Asynchronous learning
Asynchronous learning may limit some of the learning activities that can be done in a course. However, because of the flexibility of an asynchronous learning environment, thoughtful design makes the course more accessible and equitable.
Synchronous learning
Synchronous learning is when students meet the instructor in person or virtually at a scheduled time. It allows the instructor to receive instant feedback from students and affords the possibility to deliver learning opportunities that can only be done when the instructor and students are present.
